OutKry is well known to their large growing fan base as a band that has the ability to rock like there’s no tomorrow, yet role like the greats of yesterday. Rarely does a rock band like OutKry combine great guitars and drums with a longing for lyrical meaning from the lead singer Alex Sebastian. Although it seems that OutKry is becoming an overnight success nothing could be further from the truth. The band fronted by singer Alex and drummer Nick started as a jam session through a mutual friend in 2001. With the immediate connection between the two they knew what was to happen. Alex and Nick began writing. Onboard joined John on bass and Ross and Nik on guitars. OutKry has recently hit the recording studio with a vengeance producing and self financing a great E.P. of six songs with their debut single “When light breaks”. The album contains effortless arching melodies and textures that shift in continual motion. “We tried to fit our experiences and influences to create our songs and we believe that this diversity is our strength” Alex says. OutKry can be as mainstream as the best of them. People compare them to the likes of Nickelback and Bon Jovi and as these acts took the world by storm so too comes the third. Musically, OutKry draws as much from as the Beatles and Cat Stevens, as from Bon Jovi and Led Zepplin to create its music as an emotional power of experience, with meaningful content of Alex’s lyrics opening up with self revelatory songs about hope, life experiences, love and desire to be more than what he has been sold. “It’s about connecting and communication” Alex says. With this amount of content in OutKry Nick says “We have the best jobs in the world because we play music for a living and we strive to continue our journey into the musical wilderness playing well”.
