Biography

Overexertion; Formed by Jamie Guarino and Josh Hooper in a little town out of Walled Lake, Michigan in 1998. We originally started playing cover tunes from our most influenced band(s) of all time; Pantera. And of course there were others like: Korn, Sepultura, Rage against the Machine, Slipknot, and many more. We were jamming hard-core, you name a Pantera song and we were playing it. It wasn't long after that we started writing our own songs. It was coming natural. Our first song we wrote was infact, "Overexertion". A year or so after writing music we recruited our bass player to this day, Jeff Lewis. We started getting quite the following at band practice. It was a party scene filled with heavy music and people were loving it! So we took our music out there and started playing shows. We played all the small clubs around the Detroit area gaining quite the following for a local band. Eventually we worked our way to the biggest concert theater/bar in North America: Harpos. We won several battle of the bands (even beating out bands that were signed to record labels). We opened for the infamous freaks Gwar, and played with many others. We have played in festival’s such as: Dirtfest, Emergenza and more. So here we are in 2010 and still at it. We finally finished our long anticipated Home Video, followed by two Music Videos in ‘09 directed, edited, and produced by the drummer - Jamie Guarino. “Downside” was shot back in March of ’09. “Cloudy Days” was re-recorded professionally and is making a huge impact. Of course the video makes the song even better, with its professional video production and spring break atmosphere. The new sound of “Cloudy Days” (the 1st single released off our new album) is like the beginning for us. It has been played on Detroit’s 101.1 Wrif, 88.7 89X and more nationwide. We have learned so much over the years and have finally found a sound that is us. Our new studio album “Rigamortis” (released in July of 2010) will hopefully bring us to the attention of a record label with the hard work and high quality sound delivered by Studio Florence.
