While 80s Hip Hop and growing up in a lower middle class neighborhood in Cleveland, OH laid the foundation for Paul Richardson aka PAULIE RHYME, to aim high and make a difference in this world, It was the DIY efforts of BAY AREA artists such as E-40 and MASTER P combined with the raw and uncut styles of the WU TANG CLAN, that prompted PAULIE RHYME to grab the mic in the early 90s to record an impromptu track for a friend's college radio show. In 1998, PAULIE RHYME would record his first Ep, ULTRAMAN, and garner respect not only from his peers, but from regional media, venues, and radio. This newfound network provided avenues not only for PAULIE RHYME, but for area artists as well and prompted RHYME to don multiple hats, from emcee to dj to promoter to engineer to documentary producer in an effort to help the Cleveland hip hop scene regain the regional and national attention it had achieved behind the success of artists like BONE THUGS & HARMONY. In 2001, PAULIE RHYME would step back to the mic fulltime as a part of the live hip-hop band FINLESS BROWN. RHYME & FINLESS BROWN gained immediate fanfare through their unorthodox, interactive live shows and open mics, getting nominated for Best Cleveland Band in 2002 and Best Hip Hop Band (Cleveland Scene) in 2003. Releasing 4 projects to date, the BROWNTOWN EP, NEXT CAPER, LIVE IN CLEVELAND, and its most recent, UNDERGROUND SUPERHEROES, FINLESS BROWN has received reviews and airplay not only in the states but in Europe and Asia as well. Relocating to the Bay Area in 2004, PAULIE & FINLESS BROWN would continue your climb up the music industry food chain, tour, and build a strong west coast following. In between FINLESS BROWN records, PAULIE RHYME would jump back in the booth for another solo project, THE PDA EP, featuring collaborations with Dj LORD JAZZ, DJ DEETALX, FELIX (HEIRUSPECS), and TUT. Unlike UNDERGROUND SUPERHEROES, PDA would showcase a different, more traditional approach to the art form, while dealing with the transitions of life, moving from Ohio, and stepping outside of your comfort zones to pursue a greater purpose. THE PDA EP allowed RHYME to take his show on the road in 2006 on the 20+ city GUY ON THE COUCH TOUR, which not only expand the reach of FINLESS BROWN, but also allow people to catch RHYME and future collaborator DJ DEEDOT up close and personal all across the country. The DIRT MC GIRT/WHERE DO WE GO 12”, two tracks off of PDA, would catch fire in the overseas vinyl market as well, finding it way on store shelves and radio stations in the US, Germany, France, Japan, and the U.K. Now RHYME has released his latest and first collaborative project, PUBLIC RADIO, produced entirely by DEEDOT. PUBLIC RADIO is a tribute to the things we all love about HIP HOP as our culture and is inspired by the people who have dedicated themselves to it. PAULIE RHYME & DEEDOT present PUBLIC RADIO features guest appearances by RASCO (CALI AGENTS), TABLEEK (MASPYKE), KHAI SHERIEFF (LUNAR HEIGHTS), MOTO (KEY OF SOUL/FINLESS BROWN), and more.
