Asia's leading Hip Hop Rock band, Pop Shuvit's unique blend of funky eclectic beats and hard hitting riffs have seen the band take itself from playing high school proms in 2001 to centrestage on some of Asia’s leading festivals including being personally invited by multi platinum selling rockers My Chemical romance (MCR) as their official support on their Asian tour in 2007/2008. With a career spanning more than 10 years, Pop Shuvit has had 5 releases under its belt including top 20 albums in Japan and Malaysia. Pop Shuvit’s overwhelming support from the Japanese youth has led to 3 successful headlining tours and charting in the top 20 on the Tower Records album sales chart (even beating Linkin Park and Jay Z) without any promotion to back the album. A truly multi-lingual and multi cultural band, Pop Shuvit has released tracks in numerous languages including English, Japanese, Malay, Tagalog, Thai and even Spanish. Besides MCR, the band has shared the stage with All American Rejects, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Flo Rida, Tokio Hotel and has collaborated with the likes of Inspectah Deck from the Legendary Wu Tang Clan and DJ Cheapshot from Linkin Park side project, FORT MINOR. Pop Shuvit has earned itself numerous accolades including 10 Malaysian number 1 radio hits, an MTV Asia Award nomination and a special achievement award from the Malaysian Music Industry (AIM Kembara) in 2008. Pop Shuvit is currently set to embark on a new evolution of their career in 2011 with the release of their 6th studio album titled "Cherry Blossom Love Affair". Slated as a double album in both English and their mother tongue Malay, this will be the first “concept” album by the boys with not just a story that will be linked with each song but also an ambitious visual illustration of the story with short film videos and a mini coffee table book styled album layout in the works. Tweaking the knobs once again will be lead guitarist JD who takes the helm with the assistance of bassist AJ (who is part of production duo THE UNKNOWN with Pop Shuvit Turntablist UNO). After producing for numerous local and regional acts (Bunkface, Estranged, Slapshock, Project E.A.R) in the shuvit owned 2105 productions, JD took a more old skool approach to recording the album just like the band did when they recorded their debut “Take it &Shuvit”. “We spent more time on the actual songwriting process this time paying close attention to what we wanted to say” says frontman Moots! Both albums will be broken down into two parts based on the language with each part boasting 7 tracks. “expect a blend of the old and new popshuvit” says bassis AJ The band has recently released the first Malay single off the album titled Nebula 11 to radio and will be releasing an English single shortly. The song sets the tone of the story in Cherry Blossom with the intergalactic adventurers setting sale on their journey through the galaxy on Nebula 11 (why 11 you ask? That’s how many years the band has been together). “The song is about witnessing the beauty after experiencing chaos….lets just call it an interplanetary love story” says drummer rudy Cherry blossom love affair will also not be short of its star appeal with collaborations that include a local Malaysian legend and international stars. All of which will be revealed closer to the date of the album release in June 2011.
