"I don't just spit for a particular crowd. I try to reach as many minds as possible from one (16) verse" (Prophit) From his earliest memories as a child growing up in Washington D.C, Prophit has always been a fan of music - but once he met Hip Hop, it revealed itself to him in source and form. In form, it presented a way for him to express himself and in source; a way to release his frustration with the world, back to it. As Prophit grew up, his love for Hip Hop grew deep and he soon became a familiar face in the local “Back Pack” scene. Wherever music was being heard and performed, Prophit was somewhere in the crowd bobbing his head and analyzing the lyrics. As his own reputation for lyrical skill and “making money” grew, word spread in his community that he was on his way to becoming a music mogul. Soon after the rise of his popularity, gravity took over. With his increasing fame in the music world and in the streets, it was only a matter of time before the law caught up with him. His brief trouble with the law and the death of his mother brought Prophit to the lowest point in his life. He became homeless and with nothing left to lose, he moved his life to the mean streets of Philadelphia. Still homeless and with barely enough money to eat, Prophit did what he knew best and hustled for “profit”. Hustling brought him to the attention of local artists in the area as he joined them while they "freestyled" for cash. He began to make a name for himself in the streets once again, but lost some credibility when it became known that he wrote all his lyrics. This upset him, but did not sway him. He changed his style, creating a free flowing rap with a poetic twist and put his pen and pad away for good. Eventually Prophit was given a place to stay in his uncle’s basement. To most this would mean nothing, but to Prophit it meant a lot. With a new found sense of appreciation for things, he concentrated on his talent and made a goal to see himself on top. Once he was established in his new city with a job and a place to lay his head. His days became busy with long hours and hard work, but the nights remained reserved for the cypher. With music in his head and poetry in his heart, Prophit practiced his talent daily - flowing to any beat and often with no music at all. He delivered stories of everyday life, releasing the pain in his heart held captive by a troubled past…and people listened. He soon moved to Virginia were his reputation followed him. In Virginia he hung out with many local artists, at a local venue called the 930 Club. Known along the east coast for welcoming independent artists as well as hosting big acts, the 9:30 club is where Prophit got his first big break. During a set by a major talent in the music industry, Prophit was asked to come on stage. This was his test. "Can I make it..." ran through his mind while his heart beat to the rhythm of expectancy, fear, and excitement. He took the stage, and when it was all over, 600 people heard his message and responded with fervor. Believing he was one of the main acts, people rushed to him for autographs after the show. This was a life altering experience for him, and soon after Prophit began recording his music with another talented local artist named "Roc". Through his whole music career Prophit has always been self motivated. His next big step involved teaming up with “Roc” as the CEO's and Founders of Hardwork Entertainment, and building a team. With the addition of Kane and lzzo, Hardwork Entertainment was complete. Their love and dedication to music soon turned into a small, but faithful following. Hardwork Entertainment became a presence in the Woodbridge, VA underground music scene. Prophit has never been one to follow, being through what he went through made him a strong and independent man. What is his inspiration? It is simply the music, to do something you love day in and day out, to experience the failures, to live the promise, and the desire. Only one ingredient can help someone through the difficult times and that's faith, a personal motivation. Prophit will say that he is his own motivation, admitting that the only person he can count on, and will never let him down is himself. He has always had faith in his own ability to overcome through creativity and anyone who hears his music can witness that faith in his message.
