Will, Endurance, Ambition:Lyrical Assault Isaac Hayes, born in Abilene, Texas, always had a desire to perform and write music. It started after the age of five when his family left Texas and moved to California. It was at this time that Isaac fell in love with hip-hop. With the arrival of artists like the Furious Five and African Bambada, the newly arrived ..b-boy.. spent most of his time on the cardboard dancing to music. With hit movies like The Krush Groove and Rappin.. Hood, he began him semblance into rap. Not many years later, his family moved to Springfield, Illinois. It was then that his desire for hip-hop was transformed when he met a friend named Marvin Reynolds. When Isaac was eleven years old, Marvin Reynolds first showed him how to write and formulate rhymes into rap. Pulling from within himself, yet influenced by such rappers as Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Milk, and many others, Isaac began creating his own rhymes. In high school, Isaac was known for being the center of attention. Whether it was from doing dance routines in the hallway, or winning freestyle battles in the lobby, Isaac a.k.a. Purple Hayes took every opportunity to showcase his lyrical talent. As the mood of hip-hop changed, Isaac..s influences also changed. It was then that fortune played another pivotal role sending Isaac and his family down South to Jackson, Tennessee. It was in Tennessee where he met Michael and Anthony Kemp, whose mother, in irony, used to care for Isaac in Illinois when he was younger. Finding their shared love for music, they began collaborating their talents, making up songs and rapping as a daily routine on the block. It was then that the Charlotte Drive Hustlaz was born. Now welcoming back the Southern flavor that bred him, Purple Hayes continues his ventures as an artist. His lyrical assault is all his own, and with Isaac's authentic appeal and rhyme scheme, a blending of a unique style, he is able to keep his audience entranced. Isaac has done many shows, including those with Cameron, Ruff Endz, and Strings. In July, 2003, he performed at the Street Fest at the Riverfront in Nashville, Tennessee. Purple Hayes continues to grow and develop in the music world, whether it is creating music, writing lyrics, designing graphics, or co-producing. His will, endurance, and ambition can be felt as well as seen in his constant involvement with the music industry.
