These words have been thrown at the four Arizona punk rockers from Raina-Fire countless times, to no avail. Punk Rock is said to be dead in Arizona by many music “authorities” in the valley, and some have even gone as far as to tell bands to give up, conform to the radio standards of music. These words have been thrown at the four Arizona punk rockers from Raina-Fire countless times, to no avail. Since forming in 2002 in the small town of Holbrook Arizona, Raina-Fire has gone through several total lineup changes and progressed from a high school party punk band to the now matured and slightly hardcore skate punk group. Riley Murph, and new co-guitarist Jon Stadler have teamed up to throw down melodic hardcore harmonies and rhythms over Drummer Jake Natkin and Bassist Travis Stephens’s solid punk foundation. What seems to be The four horsemen of the AZ punk rock scene are back after a nearly 6 month hiatus, and are teamed up with local label Burning Bird Records to release a full length album and a summer tour. The experience and maturity Raina-Fire has accumulated after sharing the stage with bands like Unwritten Law, A Wilhelm Scream, The Unseen, Pour Habit, local favorites Authority Zero, and more, showcases itself in the new music and “in your face” attitude these boys bring to the stage. Indeed these boys are living proof punk rock in the valley of the sun is alive, and isn’t dying any time soon.
