A New Orleans native, Reed Lightfoot started his performing career in early 2003 as bassist for the hard rock band Sole Element. After leaving the group in 2004, he began writing songs on his own, and performing them around various open mics in the New Orleans area. His aggressive gigging in the area built a fan base rather quickly, catapulting him from acoustic sets in low-key coffee houses, to acoustic sets in large venues such as Tipitina’s Uptown. After a post-hurricane Katrina hiatus in Tampa, FL in 2006, Reed returned to New Orleans to resume pursuing his dream. While recording his first album, he befriended musician and then studio engineer Rickey Andre, who later was brought on as the drummer for Reed’s new band - The Reed Lightfoot Collective. Joining the band was Rickey’s former McCloud and Always the Runner bandmate, bassist Ben Tiblier, and guitarist/keyboardist Joshua Roques. Dropping Reed’s name, unifying the group under one collective name, Delta88 was born. Playing under this name from 2006-2009, Reed and Delta88 performed at multitudes of major venues, opening for national act Cipes and the People at the Republic, festivals such as the Palmetto’s Fall Bayou Fest, Spring Bayou Fest, TedFest, the Slidell Bayou Jam, and several solo performances on the radio station Lake 94.7. Reed has opened for exceptional acts such as Jason Green, Cipes and the People, Walter Wolfman Washington, Joe Krown, Russell Baptiste, Grammy winner Brian Stoltz, and Lynne Drury.
