Rob Falgiano lives under the Big Singer-Songwriter Tent, but the passionate Buffalo, NY, artist has more diverse. eclectic influences than many strummers. He breaks musical eggs for the thrill of discovery, and his style evolves with each recording. This time around the mash includes - electro-pop beats; huge synth-bass low end riffage; sweet, bright, rhythmic acoustic guitars; ambient blips and bleeps; thumping kick drums; melodic wah guitar lines; latin-influenced grooves; real live string quartets; plus respect for classic pop songwriting (Beatles being kings) and American standards (Sinatra, Nat Cole); and even some alt-country twang. There are no barriers between genres - only those we invent. Newer influences include underground jazz-based hip-hop-soul (Q-Tip, Dwele, J-Live, Omar Credle-"OC") and west coast electro-pop-rock (Bird & The Bee, Cake), and the smashup is what excites the artist, who follows where new sonic interests lead. Lyrically Rob varies it up: sometimes there's a traditional narrative, and other times pure abstraction. Sincere, saucy, sweet, and sad take turns or get swirled together. It's about the feeling. You'll find catchy, uplifting melodies back to back with dark expressions of desolation. Whatever works and is true. Falgiano has 4 independent full-length solo CDs, and 7 discs in all. All Star Heart - an 18-song, 69-minute opus - is released May, 2010. His style has drawn comparisons to alternative-acoustic-pop artists like Elliott Smith, Damien Rice, Feist, Smiths, Old 97s, Sufjan Stevens, Prefab Sprout, David Byrne, and even John Mayer (is that good or bad?). Opening slots for more than a dozen nationals include: Jakob Dylan, Nickel Creek, Ingrid Michaelson, Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), Nellie McKay, 10,000 Maniacs, The Pushstars, Goo Goo Dolls, Emerson Hart (ex-Tonic), 54-40, Deep Blue Something, The Pursuit of Happiness, and Kevin Hearn (of Barenaked Ladies). He performs extensively, averaging 50-80 gigs a year. Rob's music has been heard on TV shows "Felicity" (WB), "The Black Donnellys" (NBC), "Everwood" (CW-ABC Family), and "Jack and Bobby" (WB).
