Since 1989, Rob Nutek has aspired to be an entertaining and consistent performer/DJ/producer. His journey with music began studying the House and Techno movements in the United Kingdom during the late 80's and early 90's. He played at various venues throughout the Midlands area of the UK staying focused on finding trademark sound. With the experience he gained playing his local circuit, Rob Nutek emerged as a DJ who understands his audience. His knowledge of House Music coupled with the experience of moving big crowds left him wanting to bring his sound to new frontiers .His perseverance paid off and in 1996, through a short series of events, what would have been a short trip to California ended up with many a night spent rocking the sunshine state with his own love for music. He played at The Luxor 'Club Ra' (Las Vegas), Spundae, 1015, Transitions (San Francisco), Candyland (Los Angeles), and Dome (Hollywood) among others. He also held residency at 'A Deeper Level Cafe' (Santa Monica) and made several features on California’s No.1 Dance Station, Groove Radio 103.1. In 2001, Nutek headed to Asia to set up base in Thailand playing for seasoned partygoers at Bangkok City's top haunts including the likes of Q Bar, Bed, Narcissus, La Luna, and Lucifer (to name a few) while he also frequented the decks of parties in the 'Ibiza of the East' - the breathtaking islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan and played at the wonderfully secluded divers paradise of Khao Tao. Word of his chameleon-like style got around, and before he knew it, Rob Nutek landed a bi-weekly residency at Bangkok's super club, FLIX where he held a 2-year residency. 2006 saw Rob Nutek headed south towards the equator, travelling to Malaysia to take a resident DJ position at The Loft ‘Upstairs' (Kuala Lumpur) which at the time was leading the local dance music scene. His penchant for understanding music and crowds carried with him, landing him regular gigs at assorted events around Malaysia and in the neighboring Singapore. Now settled in Kuala Lumpur (KL), he continued mastering his ear for music and sound, playing the scene around KL’s crowd favorites such as Frangipani’s, Bar Club , Mansion, Maison Boiler Room, Twenty-One, Pulse, Cynna, Space and Telawi Street Bistro while holding residencies at Cynna, Loft and 21. It was also around this time when he started looking seriously into the idea of production and thus began his evolution into a DJ-Producer. He joined forces with friends and fellow DJ's, Glynn Tandy and Blastique to form NU-TANDIQUE, an electro based outfit. Their maiden effort was in collaboration with The CUT (Sydney), a track - 'Gimme Head' by the Radiators, a well known Australian punk band. It was released in the Australian charts and stayed in the Top 10 for the ten consecutive weeks eventually resting on a comfortable number three. 'Gimme Head' is featured (signed, Vicious Records, AU) with the MINISTRY OF SOUND SESSION 5 ANNUAL '08. In the recent months, he signed 5 tracks (Techno) with BAROQUE Records (UK) and will be released in January 2010. He has also teamed up with DJ Mark Lewis (MIXOLOGY, USA) to form HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTZ, a creative collaboration also involving producer Sean Ray (Los Angeles, California). Keep a look out for his remixes come early 2010. As Rob Nutek continues to discover new layers to add to his musical reach, he continues to discover himself as an entertainer, an artist, and as a person.
