First Steps is how this grassroots singer-songwriter, Jesse Lacy, has walked into the lives of music lovers everywhere. He combines poetic lyricism and softly assertive vocals to make each track both a meditation on youthful hopefulness and coming-of-age nostalgia. Born and raised in the state of Indiana, Lacy received his bachelor's degree in English (poetry) and music from Indiana University. Although Lacy would later expand his sound to include a full band, he started out performing solo with his guitar in coffee houses and living rooms. In 2013, with the help of a successful crowd funding campaign, Lacy took ten friends to the studio and ended up recording his debut album, First Steps, inspired by Vincent van Gogh's painting of a child taking first steps toward his gardening father. Following the release on his own father's birthday, Lacy took his zero carbon footprint album on a three month East Coast tour, where he started writing his second project expected to release in 2016.
