RUSS WOOLEN (2008) BIO OF RUSS: After traveling the “road” for over 40 years (1969-2008) as a professional musician, Russ has performed all over the world with numerous “stars” and played in virtually every music venue/ environment one could think of. Russ Woolen comes from central Illinois, the roots of some of the most famous musicians in the business. In 1969, after a short career in sales, Russ immediately “hit the road running “, doing what he loves best-making music. From 1969 to 1972 he worked as a sideman to many Nashville “stars” and traveled extensively. He also worked as a “session musician” in Nashville studios. From 1972 till now Russ has always been in front. Taking time out in 1984-1986 to own, star and operate a weekly “Kountry” music show- the Kaskaskia Kountry Opry”. Even during all of this busy music career, at the age of 45, Russ obtained his education from five colleges and one University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Health-Care Administration from Concordia Univ. In 1987 Russ was called to serve as a singing evangelist at Inner City Mission in Springfield, IL. Working there with single moms with children and homeless families, Russ ministered to many families in crisis. He has preached for several rural/urban Christian churches using his music talents in helping them to attain growth and maintain their vision. Russ has a special expertise as a country/gospel/jazz music performer and plays several instruments. (Guitar, fiddle, keyboard, mandolin, trumpet). He traveled from 2000-2006 as Representative of the Illini Children’s Christian Ministries as a Music Representative using a musical format to present the work. Russ often performs with his songwriting partner, Apryl Murray who is a Nashville, TN songwriter. Russ currently has a full time music business in the Nashville, TN area as an ASCAP songwriter where he owns and operates a music publishing company and a full-time recording studio Russonic Sound Studio, 615-810-9419. Russ is always looking for original songs to publish and new acts to produce, offering very competitive rates in his Nashville music group/studio. This group has launched Russonic Records label.
