Ryan Clayton is a singer/songwriter living in West Lafayette, IN. His full time job is managing a million dollar restaurant, but in the free time he can find, he writes and records music.  Music has always been a big part of my life, starting with the trumpet in 5th grade. Early on though, I became more interested in an acoustic guitar that was stored in our attic. Pulling it out of retirement, I quickly realized that I enjoyed it much more than playing trumpet in concert band. The only logical thing to do after that was learn how to sing. I began writing songs very early in High School, recording them to a minidisc player with an old plastic computer microphone. I would close the door and hide away in my bedroom for hours while working on them. I was given a 2 channel mixer so I could record vocals and guitar separately, still on the minidisc player. No mic stand early on though, I would balance the mics on shelves and somehow that seemed to work fine. Every Birthday and Christmas I would ask for cables or stands. Getting a job in the dining halls at Purdue helped with upgrades too. Eventually I was introduced to the world of recording with computers. Being able to stack tracks was so amazing in the beginning. It was never really about the technology though, what I loved was being able to capture and create or build art. There was something energizing about recording thoughts and emotions in this way. Diaries and journals were never my thing, they were boring and two dimensional. Creating a song has energy, depth, colors, and feeling. That is what continually draws me to write and record songs. In High School and College I was in many bands. Hard Rock, to Acoustic Rock, to a Jam Bands... Loved all of them but they didn't stick. So I'm going out on my own and giving it my best shot. All these years of building a studio, writing, and recording have led to this album. Its what I have to offer and I am proud of it. I enjoy all the songs and I hope you do too.
