Scott 76 is the latest recording project from singer-songwriter Scott Hylbert and marks his first solo effort.Recorded above his neighbor’s garage in Nashville throughout 2007, Scott 76 is a peppy record benefitting from the use of double tracked and stacked vocal harmonies, not unlike ubiquitous 1976 era radio giants America, Steve Miller and Joe Walsh. Scott 76 is the latest recording project from singer-songwriter Scott Hylbert and marks his first solo effort.Recorded above his neighbor’s garage in Nashville throughout 2007, Scott 76 is a peppy record benefitting from the use of double tracked and stacked vocal harmonies, not unlike ubiquitous 1976 era radio giants America, Steve Miller and Joe Walsh. Stylistically, this sound is a natural evolution for Hylbert: from the early ‘70s California country rock of Hylbert’s earlier band Buckeye (which he fronted in San Francisco in the late ‘90s yielding two well-received records), to the Stonesy-Faces swagger rock of Ik Ben (“I am” in Dutch). With brother Brian, Ik Ben released 2 EPs in 2006 and plans a third to drop later in 2008.Scott 76 will be released at an “in the round” performance at the Bluebird Cafe on July 3rd, followed by a full band show at the Basement August 26th.
