The name Scratch Cat derived from Richards fascination for wild cats but mainly for his skill in vocal scratching thus the name of Scratch Cat was created. Some things that he is known for are singing and beat boxing simultaneously,and imitating turntables and various instruments, something many have to see for themselves. He has also developed a unique talent to replicate certain songs and T.V. show themes. Scratch Cat is also capable of preforming a wide range of sound effects.
Scratch Cat would like resurrect the lost art by inspiring young individuals to develop interest in this unique ability and to form unity with all beat box artists all over the globe. Scratch also teaches workshops in the community hoping to gain interest in the art. By teaching the basics and the history of Beat Box, Scratch Cat hopes to inspire and give youth the knowledge and skill to develop their own style.
During the years, Scratch Cat has been associated with a variety of artists some being, Dan e o, Gold Spade, Mind Bender Supreme,Black Sage, White Lotus, Masia One, Sabotawj,One Oak,Smash Brovaz,Theology 3,MC Fubb,RH Bless, Sick Sound Syndrome andmany more.He has also been featured on the Much Music, CBC,Breakfast Television and is known for creating the theme music to the TV series Cypher which airs on Aux.
Now as we enter into a new year in 2011 Scratch Cat has found a new home along side hip hop crew Faction. By combining the art of beat boxing with the talent of emceeing Faction will deliver a new show featuring produced tracks, talented styles of rhymes all accompanied by the beat box and scratching styles of Scratch Cat.
