With a rock quartet comprised of three girls and the token guy drummer, She Eats Planets takes a wrecking ball to the notion that ladies can’t rock out every bit as hard as their counterparts of the opposite sex. The band makes no apologies for leaving the ballads for the boys, opting for a crisp rock sound with smatterings of pop sensibility. Up until recently, Connecticut could only boast the invention of the Frisbee, but over the last year She Eats Planets has been chomping down on the local Connecticut music scene as an appetizer. Luckily, the band left room for dessert and has registering on the Richter scale in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey during 2009. She Eats Planets has a habit of turning heads, giving Barnum and Bailey’s Circus a run for their money as “the greatest show on earth,” with a fresh sound and a brand of humor that has endeared them to fans and critics alike. "She Eats Planets takes their various interests and melts them down into their own clear sound. “Kiss the Girl” shines with the sunny harmony vocals of Robida, Goodman and Dressler while “Shut Up (I Love You)” throws Lita Ford and Nirvana into the same pit." -Jill LaBrack, Fairfield County Weekly The band’s hydra of influences are a metal-infused melting pot of rock including The Donnas, Rush, and Tsunami Bomb, with a dash of Paramore. While the band has been known to bring down the house with a rock laced cover of Disney’s Little Mermaid, “Kiss the Girl,” they have also written eight of their own originals, including “Shut Up (I Love You)”, which has been featured on local radio stations across Connecticut and had the honor of being "Best Indie Song of 2008" from blogofsound.com readers and was named the FM102X Song of the Day on February 9, 2009. "Music Inside" was also honored as a semi-finalist in the Spin Hot Pursuit Contest in the Summer of 2008 sponsored by Spin Magazine, Hennessy, and Gibson Guitars. April of 2009 found She Eats Planets named Band of the Week at Hartford’s 106.9 FM WCCC. With a self titled EP already available at shows and across the web, the band is eagerly looking forward to hitting the studio before the end of the year to capture and share more of their powerful tunes. An ever-growing mailing list and street team show that support for the band is gathering quickly, and with good reason. Bigger and better shows loom on the horizon for the out of this world sensation known as She Eats Planets, including Mohegan Sun, The Arena at Harbor Yard, and they're working towards a slot at SXSW come March.
