The story of SST began one afternoon at a Waverly highschool play practice. AJ Burns recognized the mad guitar skills possessed by Tom Hyland and vice versa. He asked Tom to join him and bass player Dusty Mack in an attempt to form a band. The story of SST began one afternoon at a Waverly highschool play practice. AJ Burns recognized the mad guitar skills possessed by Tom Hyland and vice versa. He asked Tom to join him and bass player Dusty Mack in an attempt to form a band. Another evening Tom and AJ got together for a historic jam session that would lead to the pursuit of greater musical accomplishment. After several practices in AJ's room the trio decided they needed a drummer. After much searching Tom decided to recruit James Barnes to the roster. Tom had a drumset in his garage so they moved their base of operations to the Chemung countryside. Now that the group was complete, the music insued with a skull pounding double-bass drums, ear-splitting vocal harmonies, driving bass grooves, and of course face melting guitar solos! So the band practiced, wrote originals, played covers and played their first show. Two days later, they recorded their first, 3 song demo. With a few more songs recorded and some more shows played, the group takes any oppritunity for shows, recording, and writing they can get their hands on. Come see them sometime...
