Doug, a Detroit composer, writer, producer and vocalist, and Wendell, a Detroit vocalist, writer and composer, decided to collaborate and make their dream of making music with a band.Once Wendell and Doug hooked up, they sought out song writing genius, Jack Hall, Jr. and composer. Producer Ken Johnson, to develop a song index that would offer new concepts of fusing Rhythm and Blues with Jazz and Hip Hop. Wendell was very fortunate to meet and work with lyricist and composer Jason Lugo, who then arranged and re-arranged much ·of Sierra Leone's initial project.Initially, bassist Marcus Belgrave, Jr. came Wendell’s’ way; exhibiting the ability to play classic Jazz and old school R & B as well as slammin’ the latest Hip-Hop beats. Soon there after, Wendell met saxophonist LaDarryl Johnson, who has a style that is both. Hard edged funk/soul as well as being smooth and mellow. Multi talented Will Harris brought a deep blues gospel/Hip Hop vibe to the Keys. Wendell was soon after introduced to Jerrell Young, a vocalist ·with incredible. Vocal range, strength and energy. He sings a good ballad like they did back in the day Stephen Jemison, another multi dimensioned artist; who plays drums and percussion; but who also produces, composes and writes. The mission of the band is simply to make good music. Not what ·everybody else is doing, but music that will make you think and will make you hyped: Music that will lead you towards enlightenment; music that will make you dance and which will help you contemplate your next move in life. Music· that deals with sex, but not in licking you up an down until you say stop, but, how to explore the inner most being of one's passions and how to take that to a spiritual summit. Thus, Sierra Leone is a creature· that will blow up the industry and at the same time. Compliment the music that has grooved for years.
