On June 23th, 1980, Simon Daum was born in Freiburg, Germany, as the last of 8 children. Being raised up in a family where everyone was playing an instrument, Simon soon discovered his great love for composing. At the age of 11, Simon's esire to become a full time musician grew tremendously after he got to know the music of the american pianist and composer, Jon Schmidt. Having Jon Schmidt and Kurt Bestor as his first, great influences, it's no surprise that Simon's first compositions have all been pianosolos.
It didn't last very long though, until Simon also began to write full orchestrated soundtracks. He is known for his piano improvisations and for using the piano in most of his soundtracks. People that already have become a fan of his unique compositions, describe his music as deepgoing, sincere and pure, giving the listener a feeling of hope and peace.
The greatest influence on Simon's music has the life itselfe and his faith in God.
Until today Simon has released 5 albums. You can listen to all of them, and to many other songs by following the links on this website. Currently Simon composes the music for nature DVD's and for audio books.
