Sleepwell Sweetheart started as an acoustic project in Chicago, picking up coffeehouse shows here and there, whenever free time allowed. In January ’08 frontman John Bobeng expanded the potential of his music by adding a live band. Since then the project has grown, core members added and released an independent EP in May 2009. In the short time since forming, they have recorded 6 songs for the EP. In addition, they have played various shows in the Milwaukee area, (where the band is currently based) and have built a very welcoming fan base in the short time they have had this past year. As well as booked their first tour. 30 days long and consisted of shows in Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, and California playing at venues such as the Marque in Tulsa and The Viper Room in LA.
Among bigger events for the band, they have received offers from a couple indie record labels and in the process of recording have had the chance to work with Ben Kasica-guitarist for the band Skillet (Atlantic Records/INO) and Nick Radovanovic- drummer for the band Acceptance (Columbia Records/Militia Group) and guitarist for Hangnail (Tooth & Nail Records).
Musically, they can be compared to Angels and Airwaves or Jimmy Eat World. With many influences from many genres, Sleepwell is always expanding their sound, to catch the attention of many music lovers. Lyrically what they write is meant to be relative to everyday emotion or situations. Made to inspire hope to hearts that have lost hope. Lyrics are written with deep thought from lessons in life, love, faith and hoping for something more. We pray these lyrics, these melodies, these stories touch hearts and breathe hope and life into anyone that has the opportunity to hear it.
