More than half a decade ago the band once called “Bleeka”, was ignited. The Carolina band influenced by greats such as Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica and Alice in Chains, whose music explores a vast alternative spectrum blending clever lyrics, potent rock, and southern charm that forms a distinct and compelling sound, was deemed punk/alternative rock . For several years the band played crowds ranging well into the thousands up and down the east coast and gained loads of attention from fans, then after taking a short exodus to pursue individual projects, the band reunited in early 2009 under the name Smack Lily. The new name randomly came to lead vocalist Chad Gerrald as he was driving one day just before the reunion. Once presented it sounded good to the group as a whole-so it stuck. Although the name has changed the fans have not. Die hard “Bleeka” fans have continuously supported the transition as the band breathes life back into the southeast region's music scene and taking fans by storm with their energetic onstage performance. Smack Lily is said to have a galvanizing guitar sound with melodic vocals. Collecting an energetic performance from front-man Gerrald, hammered together with backbreaking rhythms from bassist Aaron Thomas and drummer Dan Viands, accompanied by outstanding harmonies and searing guitar riffs from Jeff Barrett, the music definitely speaks for itself. As well as opening for acts such as Dave Matthews, Hootie and The Blowfish, and Colonel Bruce Hampton, the band was once a finalist in the Mars Music-National Battle of The Bands, has performed at numerous clubs and events and their fan hit "Time Goes By" has received radio rotation air play. Since writing and recording dozens of original songs, the band, a 2009 Queen City Awards nominee for "rock band/group of the year" (due to be awarded in December) is again in the studio recording its latest. Smack Lily has been graced with a potpourri of devoted fans spreading the word to come get “smacked”, as the band time and again gives them a show they will not soon forget!
