Straight out of Sanford, North Carolina – or as locals call it “The Sand Trap,” – Snatch is a man with the music that is making the ladies swoon and everybody else stand up and take notice. With musical influences that include Jay Z, Tupac, R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige, and talents that include playing percussion, writing rhymes and beats and singing songs that will move your body and touch your soul, Snatch blends R&B, pop, Hip-Hop and reggae into a potent mix of good-time music that appeals to the masses. Snatch confesses that he wasn’t always making music that impressed the ladies and gaining respect in the music industry. “I started out playing drums on ice cream buckets, and when I got older and recorded my first song, I realized that I had music in me. That’s when it started really sinking in my heart.” Growing up in the South, sports were the center point of Snatch’s teenage years with music serving as the soundtrack to his life, but it was writing and recording his own songs at 21 years old where he found his place in Nexx Level, a Hip Hop group consisting of Snatch and his brother. As a solo artist, Snatch says playing with a live band is the best way to communicate with an audience and truly expose your talent. “It’s great to have an audience feel the music I make,” he says. “My goal is to lift their spirits up when they’re down, or to hear from a fan how when they were getting ready to go out and they couldn’t wait to dance to my song in the club.” Snatch says his music dream on a personal level is simple: To have fans break through life’s barriers when they hear his music, though he does have a sexy, playful side to his music. Currently at work in the studio recording Snatch’d Up, his debut album, Snatch is working with producer and R&B artist Rob Young (featured on several tracks on Snatch’d Up), co-writer and producer Shaun Ellis and Jeremy Hooker (his younger brother and one-half of Nexx Level). “I call my music ‘Swagger Splashing,’” Snatch says with a laugh. “I like getting at the ladies and keeping it hot for them – for the homies too – but I’m definitely a ladies man with the music.” For Snatch, music has been his lifelong companion, one that has instilled within him hard work, dedication, and a passion for making his own music. He’s not afraid to sing about the softer things in life, like saying “I love you” or “I miss you,” and he’s also strong and confident enough in his artistic talent that he can perform alongside the best of the best and give them a run for their money.
