Jasmine Langford was born on December 22, 1984 in Dothan Alabama to Sandra Young and William Langford. Being raised in the South at such a time in poverty and racism, Jasmine grew up not knowing who her real dad was until she was five due to his race. As time and error passed, Jasmine got into church and began singing in the choir. At that time in her life, singing was her destiny. She loved to sing and act out artists such as Aaliyah and Monica. She wrote all the time and would sing and act out her own videos for her younger siblings. Later, Jasmine stepped out ,looked into her future, and got more involved in high school. She began participating in Beauty pageants (learning how to become a lady), playing basketball, running track, and weight lifting. Basketball had become her new way out. Meanwhile, sitting back looking at life, weighing her options between sports, which she loved, or making money. Of course a job it was…with sports out the back door it was work and school. After high school, Jasmine decided to go to junior college to persue a degree in science education. After two years, Jasmine withdrew to move in and help take care of her grandmother. She then went back to work part-time and back to writing full. Instead of the soft singing child once heard, she had become the voice of a female MC…She was now Sofreash. Jasmine went harder and harder starting off recording on a computer with a headset mic on a program called Acid, standing in a closed in corner or a closet, writing and recording until 3 or 4 a.m. Getting more serious she started going to a studio and doing small shows from Union Springs to Dothan Alabama opening up for acts such as Cash Camp and Khia. A year later after watching her dad suffer from his only brother’s death and becoming sick himself, Jasmine had to take on the responsibility of taking care of her dad permanently. Jasmine then decided to slow down a little with her music and focus on home until she engaged into an influential relationship of the same profession who pushed her and put her back into the studio to do a mix tape track. It was on again. She was now in the groove of writing. She was now ready to give it another shot, while her dad, a fan of country music, at age 77, motivates her to keep writing and working with her music for one day he dreams to see her perform on television. Keeping the faith with god by her side, the encouragement, and support from loved ones in her corner and fans of course…She knows her time is coming…It’s time to open that door.
