SYW is comprised of four talented and extremely hard working individuals, they share a passion for music and their enthusiasm for reaching their dreams is infectious to everyone who meets them. That dream is to be the next big band to come from Canada, and perhaps to prove people wrong. Recently gracing the stage at the Hard Rock Café in Toronto, SYW has started to gain recognition from different sides of the music industry but have thus far have not been signed to a record label, which they feel is the logical next step in their pursuit of their goals.
The band officially formed as a four-piece in April 2009, quickly they recorded their first EP with 5-tracks released only four months later. Supporting their original release SYW played shows in cities such as Stratford, Cambridge, Whitby, and Kitchener as well as Toronto all the while they were still struggling to finish high school and discovered the difficulty in booking shows while being underage and unable to enter bars. In December 2009, SYW released the song “Directions” onto their myspace page; the song received 100 plays in the first hour and received tons of praise from their eager fans.
Today, Something You Whisper is preparing for another recording session planning on releasing a 10-song CD this summer, SYW has been busy writing new material and is preparing to go all out for their dreams by revamping their online presence with a better MySpace page and website, creating and designing new merchandise, and by lining up as many shows as possible to draw in more people to their upbeat and dynamic music.
Something You Whisper’s belief is that creating moments within your music is what makes your songs great. The moment is that part of a song that brings an emotion out of the listener or that creates the greatest hook in the song. Well listen now, because SYW is creating a moment, and their moment will come in 2010.
