Matt Hamann was born with a guitar in his hand, a dream in his head, and a destiny to fulfill. A true reincarnation from the lost souls of the guitar gods. A few Years later his brother, Pete, was born and Matt said to him, "Take this bass and learn to funk." Thus the freaky fresh funkadelic groove that is impossible to imitate but easy to funk you was bestowed upon him, sent like a lightning strike from one of George Clinton's blue stray dreds. They have been jammin ever since and it shows. Naturally they studied the guitar gods like a rock bible and soon found inspiration, hope, and the blues. For the last 4 years they have been paying their dues to their forefathers of rock and blues by playing in a righteous cover band named the Blue Angels. Unsatisfied by this, however, the Hamann bros. looked for a creative outlet to express the burning visions of fame and destiny that surrounded both of their minds. They needed to step out and bring forth that soulful sound they were born to play. Through an incredible twist of fate on one of those gloomy, miserable days in Detroit in cold january, there lives would be changed forever. For fate brought them the one thing they were missing, a drummer. Joe Drummer was born on the fourth of july, the year of the ox. A true american hero, his natural animal instincts guided him to the most aggressive of all instruments, the drums. Formerly of Prison Rodeo, currently of the resurects, Joe began to jam with Matt & Pete and Soul Divide was born. His heavy drum style was the prefect fit with the groove bass and the blazing guitar, and thus the power trio package was complete. After playing a couple shows soon after their formation, Soul Divide took several months off to write new material and find their own style. Slowly, their jams developed into songs and dreams changed to reality. But there was one thing missing, one small unfilled gap in the trio- a frontman. Austin Dunsen showed up one fateful day at Joe Drummer's doorstep, nothing in his hand but a small microphone, wanting nothing more than to audition for the part. Upon the first notes of that jam session it became clear that this was the man they were looking for. With his impressive vocal range, his super soulful tone, his explosive onstage presence, and a natural born knack for the groove, he took the group to levels they never thought possible. At last, Soul Divide was as the gods had intended it- the perfect mix of all faces of music, that quintessiential Detroit Breakdown hardcore funky sound you were meant to hear. Now ready to rock the masses, they are armed and dangerous with new jams, new style, and new soul, and they're gonna take you by storm. You'll be knocked off your feet and taken to a far away land where amps are stacked to the sky, where the ground shakes from people jumping and dancing, where there are fireworks after every song, where the party doesn't stop all night long, where speakers blare and egos flare.........where each musician gets a 20 minute solo at least...back to a time when true rock was king.
