Sounds Of Noise

Long Beach, CA

Biography

Sounds Of Noise is the brainchild of Eddie Monroy (vocals/guitar), Paul Corley (vocals/bass), and Eric Zimmerman (drums). The three have created a sound so intense, devoted fans have dubbed it "the wall". Monroy's relentless guitar, Corley's unique basslines, and Zimmerman's strong ambient-flavored drumming style create a sound that's as shoegazey as is it grungy, with a little flicker of noise.   The band hails from the deep dark depths of Long Beach, Cali. Not to be confused with the Snoop Doggs and Sublimes of the world, Sounds Of Noise is a decidedly un-L.A. type of rock band. Raised on a steady diet bands like Sonic Youth, Sebadoh, and Fugazi, Corley believes the strength of their sound is derived from the varied styles they each bring to the table. Monroy, on the other hand, brings lots of flair to the ensemble, with an affinity for "bands creating psychedelic sounds with keyboards and moogs".   In 2009, Sounds Of Noise released "Hayter", their official debut album on their own independent label, S.O.N. Records. The collection included stand out cuts like "In Love With A Bully", "Soaking Up The Sun" and "Situations". Last year, the band hit the road in support of that album, with tour stops in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.   Since the start of 2011, Sounds Of Noise has been in the studio working on their as-yet-untitled sophomore effort, which will include a pleasant surprise for fans. Of the new album, Corley says "it's a little bit more angry, a bit more rocking, a bit more party, and it has a lot of love in it."   Monroy, mirrors his bandmate's message, saying: "fans, just be prepared to hear a way deeper album. It’s a little darker and more experimental."   How are things looking for Sounds Of Noise in the coming months? Well, a new tour is on the horizon with a trek to the Great White North (Canada) by year's end, as well as a trek down to Mexico. – J.R.
