In late 2006 ‘Spare Liar’ was the vehicle that was chosen to showcase the talents of Hugh Middleton and Lewis Farman. The duo was well-received and shared the stage with many Australian legends such as Killing Heidi, Carus, Dallas Crane and Mick Thomas. The duo was well-received and shared the stage with many Australian legends such as Killing Heidi, Carus, Dallas Crane and Mick Thomas. The duo then became a band in 2008 with the addition of three extremely talented musicians; Tim Ischia, Dan Berry and Ash Gowan. Spare Liar' is a boiling pot of musical delights. Its members are so musically different and yet complement each other so fully and seamlessly. Perhaps the reason why these five musicians gel so well is their enthusiasm to embrace each other’s art. So often the intended musical effect is a common thread, and the way this effect is achieved is a journey that is sometimes unexpected.
