Formed in the quiet town of East Winsdor, CT, Speed the Plow is a musical response to the platitudinous popular music scene. Originally started in the 90's by guitarist Brian Chicoine and drummer Mike Quesnette, the band asked vocalist Keith Draghi and guitarist Mike Dinice to add to the sound. With the two guitars, drums and vocals, Speed the Plow began to write, trying out various bass players. It was a random visit to a local music store that would add bassist Erik Dubé. Upon arriving, Keith heard Erik checking out a bass in the shop, asked Erik to try out for the band, and Speed the Plow asked to him join at that first session. The line-up was complete. The sound was solid, pulled from the brewing music of various Seatle and Boston bands, not settling for overt pop rock. The band set out to write good music and played extensively in Connecticut and Massachusetts playing such venues as Toad's in New Haven and the late Sting in New Britian. In time, the band recorded its first full length LP "Mesketo" which received weekly airplay on Hartford area radio stations. As the band develop and grew, the sounds of "Seven: No Shine" came and were recorded through their own label Ground Zero Records. From this work came "Nothing Simple," a song that is rated as one of the 100 all time songs on GarageBand.com. Even with this success, Speed the Plow is not currently active. On October 13th of 2006, Mike Quesnette lost a 5+ year battle to Cancer. This MySpace page is dedicated to him and his passion for music.
