A singer/songwriter from Newark, DE, Steve was born into a family of performers. His grandfather was a drummer from the Big Band era who performed with such legends as Frank Sinatra and Louie Armstrong. His grandmother was a member of an acrobatic dancing group who toured the world in the 30s and 40s. They were called the 4 American Girls and they were kicked out of Germany in 1939 when Hitler attended a show and the girls refused to salute him. The Gestapo raided their dressing room, put them on a boat back to America and told them never to return. Steve has three full length CDs with 2001's "Chasing Shadows", 2002's "The Ordinary Man Sessions" and 2006's "Hidden Truth." His original songs are getting attention from Delaware Valley radio stations WSTW & WVUD and those songs are met with equal enthusiasm when Steve plays local clubs. Furthermore, the music of Steve Ketterer has been heard in 15 US states, 6 countries, and his resumes also include auditions for such television shows as Nashville Star and American Idol. In 2004, Steve took part in the 93.7 WSTW "Do They Know It's Christmas" CD which raised over $12,000 for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. The CD was promoted on everything from Delaware’s Tim Qualls Show to NBC 10 news in Philadelphia. The success of the CD prompted another holiday CD in 2006 and again in 2010 with equally good results. Other charitable contributions include benefit performances for the Alzheimer’s Association, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Rehoboth Beach YMCA Scholarship Program and AIDS Delaware. On November 27, 2002, Steve sang "Sweet Caroline" with Neil Diamond on the Caroline Rhea Show. The show was broadcast on the ABC network as well as the ABC Family cable channel. When Neil handed Steve the microphone, Neil was seen telling Caroline how good Steve was. Steve not only performed before a national television audience, he also performed for his childhood musical hero. Neil was impressed and so were his fans. Neil Diamond message boards talked about it for days and lots of those fans bought Steve Ketterer CDs. It was a moment Steve will never forget however; don't expect him to stop there. Steve took to the road with the release of Hidden Truth and became the front man for the Steve Ketterer Acoustic Trio. From 2005-2009 they brought their unique acoustic show to some of the biggest and best venues in the tri-state area. New fans were made at just about every show and every night was a good time. Around this time, Steve also became a fixture performing the National Anthem for the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball team. According to a team official, Steve became a favorite of not only the team but of season ticket holders as well. This lead to Steve taking a chance on a much larger stage. In August of 2008, Steve won the New York Giants "Albany Idol" competition. As the prize, Steve performed the National Anthem in Giants Stadium prior to kickoff of the Super Bowl XLII rematch between the New England Patriots and the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants on August 28, 2008. A new decade brought new venues in 2010 when Steve made his debut at the legendary Bitter End in NYC. Steve performed on the stage where singers like Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell along with comedians like George Carlin and Steve Martin all stood enroute to historic careers. In March of 2010, Steve stood on the stage of the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. This stage was rocked by legends like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and even KISS. Look for more upcoming dates at these and other great venues as Steve continues his quest to make history of his own!
