StoneHand Those who remember lead guitarist and founding member Andrew “Stonehand” Maldonado’s first band, Mad Temple know that this 21 year old prodigy doesn’t mess around when it comes to his rock n’ roll! Mad Temple, who played the L.A. circuit and toured the West Coast regularly were known for packing clubs. In fact, they had so many fans that they used their own bus to transport them into Hollywood from the greater Los Angeles area. When Mad Temple decided to call it quits in 2010, Andrew decided to work on a solo project, which quickly turned into the band StoneHand. Andrew, who is endorsed by Gibson, Brazen, and Loic Le Pape Guitars, began writing and recording with several local musicians before deciding on drummer Adrian Aguilar, bassist NiK E.P., and rhythm guitarist Courtney Thompson, who also happens to be the nephew of RATT guitarist Warren Demartini. Rounding out this five piece is vocalist Luke Rivers, former singer of goth rock band The Midnight Nation and fiancée to world famous groupie and local music journalist Lexa Vonn. The boys, who all grew up in Southern CA, with the exception of Luke Rivers who hails from Washington D.C., list their influences as everyone from Santana to Metallica to Iggy Pop. With such diversity, the band’s sound is classic rock with a bluesy edge and a dash of punk rock attitude. The band is currently in the studio finishing up their debut CD, “Let the Freaks Fly” and playing out in the L.A. area.
