Stuart Chaseman is an accomplished singer / songwriter with long standing family ties to the Old Town School of Folk Music. It was there he studied and developed his craft, and still occasionally teaches and performs. From stage to studio, his many talents have made him one of the most sought after musicians in Chicago, performing with a wide variety of local and national acts including Peter Himmelman and musicians from the bands Train and The Bad Examples. His big voice is what will initially grab your attention, but it's his gritty yet sensitive lyrics that will keep you coming back. In the nineties, Stuart was a founding member and the primary songwriter of the rootsy rock band, The Tree Huggers. They developed a strong cult-like following from their marathon shows, as well as the requisite Springsteen comparisons. However, due to those all too common creative differences, the band dissolved but not before leaving an indelible mark on Chicago audiences. After focusing his attentions away from the music scene for a few years, playing only the occasional benefit show (mostly for progressive political causes), Chaseman inked a deal with the startup record company, Gonzo Music. Next Exit Brigadoon, his long-awaited solo CD, was released in 2010.
