Summer Sage is a duo comprised of Laura Langstaff and Melissa Hall. Both
Langstaff and Hall are Saskatchewan-born Métis, descended from the
historic Red River Métis community of St. Boniface, Selkirk County, Manitoba.
Langstaff released her debut album entitled Summer Sage in 2002.

Biography
Summer Sage is a duo comprised of Laura Langstaff and Melissa Hall. Both
Langstaff and Hall are Saskatchewan-born Métis, descended from the
historic Red River Métis community of St. Boniface, Selkirk County, Manitoba.
Langstaff released her debut album entitled Summer Sage in 2002.
Langstaff’s musical credits are impressive and include performances at
Carnegie Hall, Lillith Fair, and with Tom Jackson’s production, “Trickster,
2000” a performance for Health Canada. Langstaff and her sister, Melissa Hall, began performing together in 2005
and have played events such as the Ucluelet Music Fest (2007), the Maple
Sugar Festival in Nanaimo (2008), were featured on APTN’s “The Mix”
(2008), the National Aboriginal Indegenous Games (2008) and at the Aboriginal Pavillion of the 2010 Olympic Games.
. They entertain audiences with their rich harmonies, and humorous
Métis perspectives and anecdotes.
Summer Sage performs original contemporary Métis folk music written in
the ballad tradition of Pierre Falcon, who is a cultural icon of Métis peoples
across the Métis Homeland.
Both Langstaff and Hall strongly believe that humour and music are two
necessary tools in closing gaps and building bridges of understanding
among the diverse cultural groups that make up Canada.
Medicine winds
Summer Sage released thier new album “Medicine Winds” in May of 2009.
Many of the songs are a celebration of the lives, culture, and history of the
Métis people.
