Super Massive is a rock band with a sound like no other band in Australia. Combining the lustiness of a full blooded rock line-up with multi-layered synthscapes and funky, danceable grooves, the band's sound is totally unique, and has attracted descriptions such as a "heady blend of sophistication and sleaze". Singer Malina's vocals are evocative and fearless, and along with fellow band members Glenn on drums, Marc on guitar and Dan on bass, the four create music that sounds like AC/DC spliced with Basement Jaxx, or Led Zeppelin having a jam with Daft Punk. It's a sound that's as fresh as a snowflake and black as your soul. Super Massive has been playing headline and festival shows around Sydney for the past couple of years, steadily building their profile. They have also toured from Tasmania to Queensland. The band independently released their debut self-titled EP mid 2008 via MGM and iTunes to rave reviews. Awarded "Best Alternative Artist" at MusicOz Awards and featured as a band "On The Up" by TimeOut Sydney, Super Massive has received numerous Hot Ticket recommendations from metro press such as The Sunday Telegraph and SMH Metro as well as a "Hit Pick" recommendation from industry mag The Music Network. Earlier this month (Mar 09) their photo was plastered across the cover of MX Sydney as a band "living up to their name as one of Sydney's best emerging electronic/dance/rock bands".
