SUSPEKT, originally born Chase Galloway, graced Madison, TN. with his presence on Feb. 12, 1987. Raised by a single parent, life wasn't as luxurious as some nor was it handed to him on a silver platter. With the wear and tear of a divided household and the stresses of constantly being on the move, he began to experience difficulties throughout school. Feeling like he had something to prove and not knowing anyone kept him on his toes and lead to a life of fighting. In fifth grade he received several threats to be sent to jail, by the time he reached middle school he was placed in a program similiar to boot camp for troubled youth. At a mere age of fifteen he had achieved his first strike and landed himself behind bars. "It was just a growing up stage I believe just as any other in the same scenario. I think it was knowing that I was basically on my own as a man, and had to be my own man and learn how to become one on my own. That being said, I felt I had to be aggressive and one step ahead of people at all times. You notice this kind of behavior mainly with kids who grow up in a single parent household." Life flashing before his eyes, SUSPEKT realized the lifestyle he had chosen wasn't getting him anywhere but places he didn't want to be. He decided to take the motivation and determination he had to prove himself to others and use it in a more creative and positive way. His brother who also was into the arts, introduced him to music and became the whole motivation behind what you hear today. Whether it be by song or production, you can sense his mood by the vibe you get from the beats as well as his lyrics. "Music was like my escape route from trouble, it basically saved my life. Instead of releasing anger in a physical way, I could express it in music." SUSPEKT noticed through observation that his brothers dreams weren't becoming a reality due to personal life changing issues; now he stands motivated more than ever for himself, and to do it for his brother. "I watched how passionate my brother was about music. I felt the same vibe and I literally got addicted to music. I feel like I'm under some sort of pressure. I want to live both of our dreams, so not only do I have pressure on myself when it comes to my dreams, but I have the pressure of knowing I'm doing this for him to." For SUSPEKT growing up certainly was a struggle, not always having a place to go, not knowing whats going to happen next. Strong-willed and determined to be able to give himself and his family the lifestyle they never had the chance to see, he states, "I'm basically tired of struggling and seeing my mother struggle to try and support us. Regardless of us having jobs, my mother always put us first. I want to give that back to her one day and do the same thing. I want my mom and brother to have the things they've dreamed of having. I'm not really worried about me, of course I'd like to have things, but I'm not most important. I want the best for my kinfolk. I would feel much more appreciative if they got what they wanted before me." Due to a struggle with personal family issues SUSPEKT was back behind bars at the age of seventeen, and again at the age of twenty. "Life with the family is a lot of drama. My family tends to get very mad, and at times make poor decisions at their boiling points. Even though that has happened, they've apologized, because they didn't really intend for it to happen. God says, "Forgive and forget." I don't hold grudges. I'll let the lord take care of that." Now he's moving forward in his life and back on track doing what he had his dreams set on, he's on the grind, refusing to let his past define who he is. SUSPEKT has managed to find a way to take all the negative in his life and turn it into a positive way to achieve the goals he has set for himself and hopefully be an inspiration to others who are going through or have gone through the same things. Out of the chaos a star was born. "I won't say a star was born because I'm a humble individual, I'm not cocky. I don't want to be seen as if I'm too into myself, thats not me at all. I feel that when people say that, they're being ridiculous and too cocky" At that point, there was a talented, motivated, and determined individual on the rise to fame.
