What is the essence of Hip Hop? Is it the struggle of growing up in an oppressed environment? Or maybe it’s the overwhelming expression of a well oiled machine, if you ask The AbSoulJah he would say it’s been for the brain. A deep rooted foundation runs through his syringe like pen as it strikes the heart as the mind alike. There’s no question that the most influential emcees are indigenous to New York City, and if you look further you can’t deny that Queens artist have been the representation of genuineness since day one. Gaining notoriety in the underground Hip Hop community, The AbSoulJah explains that it’s not about putting labels on music due to the current fads that mock authenticity, but rather gaining listeners instead of blind legions of fans through integrity and due diligence to the art-form. There’s no one way to judge rappers ability, but you absolutely need to have a standard. Influenced by the usual suspects; Kool G Rap, Big Daddy kane, Rakim, Wu Tang Clan, Nas and many more; set the bar for a young Abdi Henderson. He has established himself as a lyrical heavy weight and proved that it’s not where you from but what you rap that matters. The AbSouljah has literally gone half way across the world holding stages down in Norway. The anticipated debut “Slave to the Page” serves as a remnant that creative reality based Hip Hop will never die and always will be about the essence of anything relevant. Currently the album is available as a “no charge” download, boosting to the fact that the best things in life are free. Always be your own judge, always be original. Support the content and the message. The AbSouljah is not a fake apostle, false prophet or savior of the cult of man, He’s an emcee bent on beast handling the microphone. When asked how does he manage to come across so hardcore yet effective, he modestly replies “I’m just doing my one two thing."
