About The Boxcar Lilies
The Boxcar Lilies are a high-energy and engaging Americana trio with a knack for heavenly three-part harmony and exceptional songwriting.
After dating on and off for much of 2009, singer-songwriters Jenny Goodspeed, Katie Clarke, and Stephanie Marshall decided to make it official. Over a few beers and a yummy plate of wings at a local tavern, The Boxcar Lilies were born.
Yes it was a shotgun wedding. They married their love (read: obsession) for great songwriting and sweet harmonies and set out to arrange originals and some of their favorite cover songs by the likes of Fred Eaglesmith, Neil Young, and Gillian Welch.
Each an accomplished singer and songwriter in her own right, together as The Boxcar Lilies they are a high energy and engaging Americana trio with a knack for heavenly three-part harmony and exceptional songwriting.
Jenny Goodspeed combines beautifully crafted lyrics and heart-breaking melodies to create a sparkling fusion of folk, pop, and Americana. Her songs have earned her finalist slots in numerous songwriting contests including the 2009 Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist Showcase and the 2009 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest.
Stephanie Marshall has brought her brand of folk 'n rock 'n country to audiences throughout New England, winning them over with her effortless and fun-loving performance style. Recognized for her memorable melodies and soulful voice, she was named a 2007 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist.
In recent years, Katie Clarke has been making waves with the dynamic musical group The Green River Band. Her big voice has earned her a solid reputation as a crowd-pleasing artist whose songwriting deftly navigates the territories of folk, country, gospel, bluegrass and old time music without sounding derivative.
