The Co-Op! This 3-man crew reppin’ the DMV is doing big things on the music scene, both locally and nationally, with a sound like nothing you’ve ever heard to come outta The Cap!
Back in 2003, DC-born R&B singer Del, a.k.a. Frankie D, found that the market for R&B music was almost non-existent, with hip-hop almost completely taking over the airwaves. In a quest to find a sound that would bridge the gap between traditional R&B and hip-hop, he enlisted the help of his cousin, NYC-born producer/ MC Dee Daye, to begin making tracks for his demo CD. One day while in the studio, the cousins were taking a break from studio work when they were visited by New York native Decon (pronounced dee-con), a producer/ MC, and a close friend of Frankie D. An off-the-cuff freestyle session in the studio that day by the 3 friends turned out to be the beginning of the group known as The Co-Op.
They’re music has received both local and national airplay, and they’ve shared the stage with many national recording artists including Lil’ Jon, Lil’ Scrappy, Young Buck, and Dipset.
The group is currently promoting their hot single, “Girl”!
