For six years The Dares performed as a trio with Martin Lascano (bass guitar and vocals) who left the band in April of 2010. Brandon Shapiro, (bass and vocals) and Anthony Aguirre (guitar) joined The Dares in the summer of 2010 and in November of the same year, The Dares teamed up with Grammy award winning producer, Paul Ebersold and recorded their new cd. The Dares began performing in California in 2004 and have played all the major clubs in Southern California. The Dares were signed to Jive Records in 2007 when the band members were still just 16 years old. So far it has been a very interesting journey for The Dares and they have had a first class experience of the ups and downs of the music business. Performing at the major Hollywood clubs before they could even drive and having to enter and leave through the back doors due to their age; working with Grammy Award winning producers, and touring with major acts have been just some of the highlights for the band. The Dares began working in the Summer of 2007 with various producers and after nine months of writing, The Dares began the work on the recording of their debut album with Jive Records. The eleven song CD was produced by Grammy award winning producer Paul Ebersold and David Bendeth. The album was finally completed in the early 2009. Although a release date was not established at the time, The Dares began touring the United States and Canada in the Summer of 2009 with established bands such as Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Almost, and Cartel. They also completed the video game theme song "It's Your World" for the Sony Entertainment game "Free Realms" and was the headlining guest act at this year's NAMM 's national high school battle of the bands "School Jam USA." In January of 2010, The Dares could not secure a release date from Jive Records and, therefore, requested their release from the label.
