The David George Band

Prairie Village, KS

Biography

David George spent his youth in Louisville and Kansas City listening to top-40 radio and fighting with his sisters over their parent’s 45’s and vinyl records. It makes sense that David’s recent and first solo effort has brought him back to his roots. David George spent his youth in Louisville and Kansas City listening to top-40 radio and fighting with his sisters over their parent’s 45’s and vinyl records. It makes sense that David’s recent and first solo effort has brought him back to his roots. After nearly ten years of in-your-face Rock and Roll with bands Moaning Lisa and Culture Killers, David has put down the Les Paul and picked up the acoustic, and has delivered twelve extraordinary pop songs about love and life. Woven into this record is David's journey through music. Encouraged by winning talent shows in high school, David formed bands in college, and began touring the country. His first break arrived when his band Moaning Lisa signed a deal with Veronica Records, releasing their first CD in 2000. This CD (Wonderful-Veronica Records 2000) would eventually chart in the top 200 of CMJ (College Music Journal). The album cover was nominated by Playboy Magazine as one of the sexiest covers of all time, alongside albums by Bob Dylan, The Black Crowes, Jimi Hendrix, and others. Moaning Lisa's hit song, “My Life Is A Landslide” was featured on the drama series Judging Amy. Other songs written by David can also be heard on the TV show Party of Five and in feature films Fear House and Candy Stripers. His recent band Culture Killers have remade the classic rock staples “Born To Be Wild” and “Magic Carpet Ride” for the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, where it is viewed by 18 million visitors annually. Between composing new material and recording his new album, David writes and develops screenplays, most recently about the life of Brigitte Bardot. In addition to writing, his love of live performance keeps David in constant motion. He recently performed at Denver’s Mile High Stadium (Invesco Field) where he debuted songs off his upcoming release, “Love/Life.” The title references the dual sides of his parent's old vinyl. One side, LOVE, features songs of the heart. The other side, LIFE, tells the oftentimes-tragic story of falling out of love. “Love/Life” is being produced by David George and George Johnsen, who has worked with Royal Crown Revue, John Fogerty, Pink Floyd, and others.
