Biography

On a brisk Autumn night in Boston, Massachusetts, a drunken emcee was booted from a bar for disorderly conduct. Staggering around downtown, he happened upon a group of kids playing guitar and beat-boxing on a stoop at Berklee College. He swooped down like a bird of prey and kicked a funky free off the top of the dome, after which he promptly departed. In the midst of the flow, he had said the words "ActOne, East Boston," and they were caught, and subsequently googled, by a dreadlocked hip hop producer and singer who called herself EzDread. She discovered the MySpace page of ActOne (alias: Mike Twain), a Boston emcee who hailed from Connecticut, where EzDread also happened to be from. It was her first week in Boston, having just moved on campus to attend Emerson. Needing an emcee to work with, and impressed with the versatility of Act's musical catalog, she decided to reach out. The two hooked up after a couple emails were exchanged and Act laid a tentative track on one of Ez's beats. After some time and a lot of recording, they became the Electric Outlet, a producer/emcee duo in the vein of Gangstarr or Erik B. & Rakim, with the added bonus of EzDread also being a vocalist. Act has since returned to Connecticut, to Yale country, and EzDread is currently residing in Cambridge, home of the illustrious Harvard. Based on their geographic locations, the two decided a fitting title for their debut full length album would be "The Ivy League LP." The album is a culmination of the pair exploring all new territory in hip hop, as well as creatively detailing ActOne's battle with (and ultimate victory over) substance abuse on top of ever-evolving soundscapes put down by EzDread. The Electric Outlet is definitely generating a buzz; get plugged in!
