What is the definition of Hip-Hop? A voided answer yet to be revisited until now. FLUX180, created in 2007, is a vision presented to lyricist Carey “Bamboo” Boyd during his everyday struggle of trying to sustain during economic hardship in hard-hit DC. Visually illustrated on a wall, he saw a vision of himself with a charismatic group of individuals on a galactic stage that continued to rise into the unknown AND over the currently Hip-Hop disabled. Each member unknown, but with their own story of FLUXuating triumphs, their main objective was to focus on creating Futuristic Lyrics Unique to Xenoglossics. Motivated by the revelation, he then moved to pull together six of the DMVs recognized musicians to form FLUX180.
Transcribing their soul on paper, their music is easily relatable to all demographics whether your Jay-Z or Joe the Plumber. Never uncensored, FLUX180 possesses the capability of effectively expressing their views without weakening the people or the message they are presenting with disrespectful blaspheme. Each member having their own influences, this band acknowledges the vein of artists such as Parliament Funkadelic, The Roots, and Red Hot Chili Peppers as influences to heart of their music. Building an Unidentified Alternative (UDA) sound, this band comprises their music with a solid rock foundation, a grungy soul, and a hip-hop ego that will transform the norm to become the obsolete.
