THE GETAWAYS In 2007, The Getaways started off as a local maryland band playing in their basement with hopes of doing something with their music. Now in 2009, they have accomplished more than most local bands can say. These maryland-based pop rockers have seen a lot of success in the short amount of time they've been around, but they have no intentions of slowing down. The Getaways have performed at all the largest venues in their hometown of Baltimore, Maryland and have shared the stage with some noteworthy acts including Jimmie's Chicken Shack (Island Def Jam), Jakobinarina (Regal Recordings), Van Atta High (Thriving Records), and other hometown heroes such as Dropout Year, American Diary (Toss Up Records) and The Hint. The band released their debut EP entitled 'As the City Sleeps' on May 15th 2009, and the record went onto iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Amazon and other online retailers on September 1st, 2009. The record, produced by Kory Gable (Senses Fail, The Dangerous Summer, Mercy Mercedes), documents the bands unique, synth-laden pop rock that so many have become a fan of. As of fall 2009, the band is writing for a follow up record which will create an even bigger buzz and take the band further. "On a serious note, I’m digging The Getaways. They’ve got something solid going on before their time. It’s thoughtful, coordinated, balanced, original. Sounds like the collaborative inspirational elements you would want and expect from the millennial generation. A great start for these kids. P.S. don’t forget to do your homework, boys!" -Rams Head Live! The Blog/December Archives "The Getaways bring great songs, powerful vocals and serious musicianship to the table. This is clearly a group worth watching closely in 2010. 4.5/5 Stars" --- Eugene Foley / Foley Entertainment, Inc.
