They list their major influences as 90's pop/alternative bands like Better than Ezra, Tonic, Matchbox 20, and the Goo Goo Dolls as well as folk/newgrass bands like Nickel Creek, Good Old War, Mumford and Songs, and Guster. The Goodnight Fields are currently working out how to record their first album tentatively entitled "Coincidence and Dreams," the band hopes it will be released sometime before Christmas of 2010. They have currently released a free EP of their work so far entitled "Sounds from Gilbert Street" that can be downloaded from their reverbnation account.
