About The Harper and The Minstrel

East Freetown, MA

  Talented and versatile Multi-Instrumentalists Jay and Abby Michaels make up the duo The Harper and The Minstrel. Their unique sound is influenced by Celtic, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Folk and Rock Music. 
 
Abby's angelic alto and Jay's smokey baritone are accompanied by a variety of instruments including both the Traditional Gaelic Wire-Strung Harp (Cláirseach) and the Nylon-Strung Celtic Folk Harp, Silver Flute, Divergent Flute, Irish Wooden Flute, Alto, Soprano & Tenor Recorders, Penny Whistles, Bowed Psaltery, Dulcimers, Classical Guitar and Folk Guitar.
 

This duo specializes in beautiful airs and ballads,the occasional jig or reel, many of their own original compositions, unique arrangements of Traditional and Early Music and creative acoustic covers of Standards and Classic Rock songs.

For the past decade The Harper and The Minstrel have brought their music to many venues in America including Folk, Renaissance, Medieval, and Celtic Festivals, Coffee Houses, Libraries, Senior Residences and Farmers Markets.


 The Harper and The Minstrel are featured Entertainers at Florida's Annual Fort Myers Medieval Festival, The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire and The Florida Renaissance Festival. They have performed at The ICONS Irish Festival, The Boston Green Fest, The Sterling Renaissance Festival, The Great Lakes Medieval Faire, The Connecticut Renaissance Faire, King Richard's Faire, The Beal House at The South Shore Folk Music Club, The Phoenix Faerie Festival, The Southern California Pleasure Faire, The Boston Spring Flower Show and at many other events.
