The High Dials are a psychedelic pop band from Montreal. With swirling guitars, 3-part harmonies and catchy choruses, they make anthemic power pop that sometimes drifts into shoegazey ambience and melancholic folk balladry. They released two albums with NYC-based Rainbow Quartz Records: A New Devotion (2003) and War of the Wakening Phantoms (2005). The latter won rave reviews in North America and the UK and went to number one on Canadian college radio charts. The band toured extensively, including stints with both Brian Jonestown Massacre and Neko Case. Their newest album, Moon Country (2008), may be their best album yet. Begun in a remote stone cottage in Ireland and completed in the studio in Montreal, it features everything from droning dance grooves to spaced-out rock to wistful psych folk. As a nod to the classic LP in an Mp3 age, the release is divided into two sides, A and B.
