Bio Formed in 2004, The Highgears started under a very simple premise of being a no-frills, rock and roll band. This mindset recently carried them into their 5th year with only 2 member changes in that time. The current line-up has been together since 2006 and incidentally, has earned the most recognition they've had in their career.Though they have a sound that's always evolving, the same guitar-driven structure remains in tact. Drawing influence from the 70's rock era as well as the best of their own generation, The Highgears take their songs, though dark in their very nature, and apply a strong, melodic side. This "heavy with hooks" style allows the band the opportunity to share the stage with bands from many different genres. The Highgears have also coupled their love of music with a knack for self promotion. This has taken them into several major markets such as Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and New York with a great reception. In addition, they've maintained regular radio airplay, both nationally and abroad. Their work has caught the attention of not only fans but some individuals of cult status. Chris Seaver, owner of Low Budget Pictures, has called upon The Highgears to write and record original music for 3 of his films (and recently another that's in the works). Add to that list 5-time Bram Stoker Award-winning author Gary A. Braunbeck who considers The Highgears as one of his favorites. All these signs point to a band with a strong work ethic and legitimate love for rock and roll, showing no signs of slowing down. Links The Highgears Online.
