The band was begun as a solo project by lead singer, Phil Rohrer. Inspired by the story of Keith Green, a truly pure-hearted musician from the 70's who died tragically in a plane crash, Phil wanted to attempt to focus in on the heart of music. After years of playing in a rock band, he knew all about the distractions so prevalent in the music industry. After playing several coffee shop shows, he sought out like-minded musicians and the band, The Historic, was born.
Musical influences for the band range from Bob Dylan to Wilco. Mainly, the band is interested in music that has a good balance of musicianship and catchy song structuring with an emphasis on interesting lyrics, especially lyrics that tell an intriguing/meaningful story.
The men and woman that make up The Historic also value live shows, because of their mutual belief in community. Each live show is a new and engaging effort to bring people together and spark conversations about the things in life that really matter. It will be exciting to see what the future holds for this band.
