"There wasn't a still toe in the studio as Sorenson kept a catchy beat on percussion and Lennon strummed his guitar and sang with his pleasantly young voice." -Dawn Hatchard In the summer of 2008 Mike Lennon and Mike Sorensen, or "The Mics," began performing at a local open mic in Medford, Oregon. Sharing a love for creating music, songwriting and jamming the duo embraced their new sound effortlessly. With Lennon on the acoustic guitar, Sorensen on the djembe and both sharing vocals they soon became a local favorite and fans often would come just to get their weekly dose of the The Mics' enchanting hit "Fire Rain." It wasn't long before the band was opening for Local Greats like Oregon Transplant and Momo Smitt. A year later the band combined efforts with another natural musician Benny Pezzano, adding a fuller sound to the band. Benny brought in a smooth bassline and began trading efforts with Lennon on the acoustic, joining them vocally to form a melodic harmony. The band has adopted a sound which complements their unique blend of Reggae, Roots, Blues, and Folk creating what the band calls "Roots Fusion Music." The Mics have many influences including: Dispatch, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Toots and the Maytals, Jack Johnson and John Butler.
