The Minneapolis Henrys are breathing new life into the Chicago indie-rock scene. But this doesn't mean they've forgotten their roots. To the contrary, the boys met during their formative years in high school and showcase that same youthful exuberance in their tunes to this day. After singer/guitarist Jai Henry finished touring in support of his first album “Shipwrecked On The Shores Of Persephone”, drummer Ian Tsan followed Jai’s lead and relocated to Chicago. Shortly thereafter, bassist Brandon Stein also moved to the Windy City from Minneapolis thus forming The Minneapolis Henrys in November of 2007. Playing exciting live shows, with songs that cover everything from funk to punk, The Henrys began building a fan base in Chicago. They soon found a home in places like Humboldt Park's Quennect 4 art gallery and among the city’s underground rock and hip-hop communities. The Henrys eventually recruited cellist Katy Myers from their friends, jazz ensemble Tomorrow Music Orchestra, adding another layer of texture to their tight, poppy compositions. Every live show given by The MPLS Henrys offers a unique experience. From MC’s to a jazz orchestra and everything in between, you never know who might be hopping on stage. In short, The Minneapolis Henrys rock the party. 2008 finds the Henrys gearing up to release their debut full-length "The Way of the Albatross" on Grape Juice Records in December.
