The Moorelands Project is the brainchild of production duo Mike Kraz and Mike Greener. The team of multi-instrumentalists/songwriters, Kraz (vocals, keys, guitars) and Greener (guitars, synthesizers, percussion) describe their sound as Rock Hop and Roll, seamlessly combining a range of genres, offering a unique blending of tones and “live off the floor” feel.
In the summer of 2010 the concept for a Rock Hop and Roll band, which also functioned as an all-encompassing production team was beginning to take shape. Though the duo has had many years of experience performing and writing for separate bands, the idea for a production team and thus subsequently a genre-bending album came only to fruition by means of dedication and good timing. Since both members were finishing up post-secondary degrees studying music, they decided to blend their tastes and talents with their academic knowledge to try and create something unique, inspiring and catchy. What was born is The Moorelands Project, a band/production team, and soon to be self-titled debut album, that takes the listener on a journey through several varieties of popular music while still maintaining a steady rhythm, catchy melodies and meaningful lyricism.
